2013 March 19: Install the breather pipes in the bellhousing

Roy asked me to install a sump spacer/external oil filter/windage plate. This is a lovely modification which eases maintenance and helps reduce oiling issues with the breather. The windage plate interferes with the return pipe. I like to cut off the return pipe right at the bottom of the threaded portion. I've run my Ambassador this way for many thousands of miles without any trouble whatsoever.

Some will tell you that a sealant isn't needed here. And, it shouldn't be. All the same, it is a lot of work to get back to this point afterward and Permatex Super 300 is pretty easy to remove later. I use it.
