Changed my mind about using the low handlebars. After riding around on my 69 all of last weekend, I think the stock ones are my best choice. Cleaned up a pair I got from Mike Skaggs and installed them, then switched all of the controls over. I decided to use a starter button also, since it will clear the tank now.
Started on the breather box - needed to open it up to remove the stock flapper
since I will be using the ball type valve from a later Guzzi. Decided the easiest way to open it up and then close it back up was to grind off the weld at the perimeter seam. Worked perfectly - just enough lip left to clamp to when welding back together. Half of the flapper disc was already gone, so I sliced the support on either side and removed it. Cleaned everything up and it's ready for closure.
Won this nice red plastic dust cover as a door prize (donated by Speaker's Cycles in Steubenville, OH) at the MD/DC Rally, so now Barney goes undercover every night!
