Thanks to LeRoy (Bob Sharp) for sending me these photos when I asked about how the wiring harness was originally routed on my V1000 I-Convert. LeRoy acquired the photos from Performance Cycle in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Performance Cycle was offering these G5 units for sale on eBay in 2008...both with extremely low miles and largely unmolested (though with parts missing). These photos provide excellent documentation for how Moto Guzzi intended things to be from the factory. Enjoy!
More recently, H. Alex Balogi sent me photos of the unmolested V1000 G5 that he purchased in 2009. Alex believes that he purchased the first one shown in the photos below, labelled G5 1
. Alex did what he thought was a complete restoration and then put on more than 30,000 miles. He reports being plagued by deteriorating rubber and comments, When restoring a hangar queen like this ya gotta replace ALL rubber.
