Mental preparation

Installation of any wiring harness requires the right mental attitude.
If you approach the task overwhelmed and in a rush, wanting it to be over before it even begins, and knowing
that you've always
had difficulty with mysterious electrical spaghetti, then you are very likely to fail (and no amount of instruction I provide will make the outcome any different).
Instead, success dictates the following:
- No self-imposed time pressure.
Don't try to get this done your first time in 30 minutes. It isn't going to happen. Your first time is likely to take several hours and may span a few days. Expect that. I've installed multiple wiring harnesses and I've never installed one in less than a couple of hours. - Take your time and go slow.
This is not a race. If you rush things, the outcome will be less than what it could have been. - One piece at a time.
Do not feel overwhelmed by the number of connections that must be made. You don't make all the connections at once. Instead, you make one connection at a time. Each connection you make reduces the complexity and decisions you need to make moving forward. There are a lot of instructions, but you only need to complete one instruction at a time. - Wire cutters are not your friend.
Don't start cutting the terminals off of wires unless you are 100% certain that you need to. Yes, sometimes you will need to change a terminal for a variety of reasons. If you bought the harness from me, I tried very hard to ensure that all the terminals were correct for your application. If something isn't what you need, let me know and we'll figure it out together. - Walk away.
Finally, walk away whenever you sense you are becoming frustrated. If I've learned one thing working on any mechanical project, it is this: nothing good happens when I am frustrated.
