Thanks to Tom Halchuk for sending me this information. In Tom's own words:
I started to have issues finding fifth on the Eldo.
I took the transmission apart and found that 1st/2nd gear had separated slightly from 3rd/4th gear.
I pressed them back together and them removed the lock ring / bearing race. You can see how hammered the lock-ring is in the photo.
I then heated and removed 1st/2nd off the mainshaft. I used a aluminum plate with a V cut in it to hang shaft. Then convincingly rapped against shaft with a large brass piece between shaft and hammer.
I cleaned up and primed the shaft.
Then applied green Loctite and pressed 1st/2nd back onto the shaft.
I got a new lock-ring bearing from Stein-Dense in Germany for USD $90.00 delivered: MG# 14212210 Bush.
I am sending you this because I could not find ANY pictures of what this should look like or how to dismantle.
